Mark and Pat Sellergren, Owners
Mark and I first fled an Iowa winter for the Caribbean in 1980 with a trip to Jamaica. It rained a good deal of the time we were there but we didn’t care—rain did not require shoveling. We lay in the sun like a couple of soporific lizards, exclaimed how wonderful it felt to be warm all the way through, and vowed that someday we would live on an island where the summer was year-round.
Flash forward through several other Caribbean holidays and owning for a few years a place on Bequia in the Grenadines. We were looking again for our perfect island. Some Iowa friends suggested St. Croix.
You know that feeling you get when you just KNOW you’re home? That was how we felt about St. Croix the minute we stepped off the plane in 2002. We still feel that way.
Jane Akin, Sales Associate
Earning her B.F.A. in Interior design, Jane Akin practiced design in multiple aspects of art in several states before following her dreams and making St. Croix her home in 1998. Once here, Jane devoted her time to painting using numerous mediums, and over the past 20-plus years has taught painting to both Crucians and visitors, from beginners to professionals.
Jane’s love of design guided her to join Sweet Lime where her expertise will enhance your home or business with the beautiful, tropical furnishings and art that Sweet Lime has to offer.
Shawnté Edwards, Sales Associate
Shawnté is happy to call St Croix home after relocating from Washington, DC in 2019. After 15 years of working in the telecommunications industry, Shawnté discovered her passion for interior design. She loves helping people create beautiful and functional spaces that speak to the unique identity of her clients. Her style is eclectic and modern, influenced by art, culture, and nature. In her spare time, Shawnté loves to spend time with her family and enjoys the outdoors.
Lynn Brown, Sales Associate
Lynn Brown was born and raised in Chicago and is now proud to call St Croix her home. After 35 years as a physical therapist, she decided to manifest her dream and move to St Croix with the hopes of creating a new way of life and is elated to be a part of the Sweet Lime team. She credits her interest in interior design and styling to her mother who was constantly updating, upcycling, and upgrading their home. She describes her personal design style as “eclectic, vintage, functional, funky and chic.”
Her personal interests in world religion/culture/music, Feng Shui, and the healing arts are also reflected in her styling influences. Lynn looks forward to assisting you with furnishing and decorating your Island Dream Home!
Margaret Sellergren, Marketing Manager
Margaret Sellergren is the middle daughter of Mark and Pat. She moved to St. Croix in August of 2023 after spending eleven years in Singapore. From 2018 to 2023 she was busy running her own online boutique furniture store called Nestify. Margaret is passionate about family and friends, marketing, history, art and design, reading, writing, being out in nature and overall being healthy and happy.
